Project Details

Abstract

Diet, living, transportation, education, safety issues and telemedicine systems are the key components of caring for the elderly. This project is under the framework of Intelligent Comprehensive Interactive Care (ICIC) system and is elderly-centered, providing care services of medical, diet, living, transportation, education, entertainment and safety. Meanwhile, it takes the needs of caregivers and medical professionals into consideration in order to provide more effective and convenient environment for giving healthcare. Moreover, for improving the interaction deficit between system and users, this project will design novel healthcare service being suitable for the tele-healthcare system, which is based on cloud computing. The project integrates the basis of clinical medicine, information security, industrial design and existing care systems, developing a Health Care System for care of the elderly. Not only using wireless network transmission mechanism to record the physiological information and changes in body function of elderly over a long period of time, but also concerning their entertainment needs to enhance the degree of psychological happiness. This project is aimed at developing an intelligent comprehensive interactive care (ICIC) service model and its platform for the total health care of the elderly. This proposed model is going to integrate and improve the developed systems that are iHealth, iDiary, iNet, CardioView, AidSense, EMTSync, CareTogether Pro, iFit, and ShareTouch Plus with the needs of the elderly. This is a five-year project with 5 action plan: (1) the validation and verification of ICIC services model; (2) ICIC platform development and its related system integration; (3) development and verification of intelligent physical health monitoring systems; (4) development and verification of intelligent activity monitoring systems; (5) development and verification of intelligent psychological health monitoring systems. The proposed platform is designed based on the needs of the elderly in total health care, as well as constructing an elderly-centered platform to integrate all related services, including the physiological signal measurement, daily diet planning and suggestion, and exercise guiding and training etc. All of these services will be created based on the requirements of scalability and flexibility, providing rich homecare functions and individualized health management. Meanwhile, we will construct a cloud to be the data center and the application server, which stores different kinds of service models. These models, particularly, will be presented as the Apps such that the users can download them to perform health management by themselves at anytime anywhere, under the monitoring of medical professionals, via telemedicine techniques and wireless network communications. The effectiveness and user experience of all service models will be collected back to the cloud, which provides the clinical knowledge for the following researchers to develop more and more innovative healthcare services or products. This is a five-year project, and will use the Chang Gung Health and Culture Village as the test bed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of all services mentioned above. By realizing this project, we expect that all members joining this project will learn more knowledge and experiences on designing future homecare health-management systems.
