Abstract
An assessment reasonably modified fairly assess the students with cognitive disabilities’
learning performance. Currently, in Taiwan, assessment accommodation and modification mostly
have been studied for the elementary and high school students, but few for the college students. The
resources and conditions to implement assessment accommodation and modification in college are
very different from those in elementary and high schools. How to effectively conduct a meaningful
assessment for college students with cognitive disabilities? The purpose of this research is to develop
a valid and reasonable assessment system for the college students with cognitive disabilities. This
research will take two years, following the one conducted in last year. In the first year, the research is,
per surveys with the college teachers of the students with cognitive disabilities, to understand the
assessment modification currently held in college, and to explore the difficulties, needs, policies and
strategies of the modifications on the base of the teaching and assessment goal. In the second year,
the research will interview and conduct Delphi survey on the course teachers and resource classroom
teachers, and per the result of the surveys to develop Guideline for College Students with Disabilities’
Assessment for the relevant people to refer. The research will promote the awareness of the
assessment issues and establish a model of valid and reasonable assessment for the college students
with disabilities.
