Project Details

Abstract

Boundary element method is used to analyze the adhesive contact between a two-dimensional elastic cylinder and a rigid half-space. In the past, research is focused on the adhesive contact between a two-dimensional rigid cylinder and an elastic half-space. Since a line load on the two-dimensional half-space is used, the deformation becomes infinite. Thus, it is impossible to find the load-approach relationship. The current research uses the boundary element method to analyze the load-approach relationship, contact half width-load relationship and the traction distribution. The relationship between the pull-off force and the Tabor parameter is also found.
