Abstract

Approaches to integrate vibration and solar energy harvesters with standard CMOS ICs are proposed. By using these methods, the ambient energy can be harvested and converted to the electricity required by the circuits. Different from the conventional vibration energy harvester, the proposed vibration energy harvester can be used in low–frequency vibration environment. Furthermore, a dye-sensitized solar cell is also integrated to collect more energy. By the combining these two energy sources, it is anticipated that the future CMOS ICs can operate by itself. The goal of this project is to demo this idea in an low power integrated circuit and show its impact to the green energy industry.
