Abstract

The concern, health status and quality of life of living organ donor are very important issues. The experience and concerns between kidney and liver living donors may be different, but very few studies aim to describe and compare; the morbidity of living donors is also lack long-term follow-up and evaluation. The purposes of this study are to describe and compare the concerns, health status and quality of life of living liver and kidney donors, and the health status and quality of life change pattern in different post-surgical period. Three-year project will be completed. The retrospective questionnaire survey is used to explore and compare the concerns, health status and quality of life of the study participants in the first year. The second and third year’s study is prospective study aims to explore and compare the concerns, changes in health status and quality of life, and to explore the possible influence factors. Questionnaire survey is the main data collection method. The purposive sampling method is used to recruit study participants in a medical center in northern Taiwan. The inclusion criteria are: at least 20 years of age, have received living donor liver or kidney donation surgery, stable health condition and agreed to participate. The number of sample is estimated a total of 304 (each groups 152) in the retrospective survey, prospective survey is 72 (each groups 36). We hope that the results will serve as framework for clinical practice to develop evidence-based programs.
