Abstract
In order to create a breakthrough product (or interaction interface/service), our
industries must know who user is and how to place that knowledge in the perspective
of the market that the product competes in. User habitual behavior, the mode of
operations, cognition and preference are important information for interdisciplinary
teams during new product development (NPD). Taiwan has already gone toward
ageing society. The change of the population pyramid and family member cause the
change of the elder inhabit style. Every elder is unique, he/she has different personal
specific, life environment, values and habit. These life experiences grow to construct
the elder’s cognitive structure. Because of the impact of digital technology and elder
lifestyle from past experience and behavior, the elder usually has maladaptive behavior
with environment. It causes the obstacle to live. We must understand the elder lifestyle
from their life experiences, inhabit styles, and the interaction with digital technology. To
build the lifestyle EUIPP and validate application to healthy service development is
critical academic and industry issue and important for Taiwan.
Using interview, scenario observation and questionnaires to understand elder’s life
experience and behavior pattern. Through the health service task analysis build the
information processing pathways from the object stimulus to body response. Collect
the secondary data form interdisciplinary innovation cases study and literatures review.
Build the primary data from multi-labs to justify the objects interface usability and the
elderly users information process pathway (EUIPP). Through the interdisciplinary of
teaching and corporation of the health service industries and practice innovation of new
development cases, it will validate the lifestyle EUIPP model and the application value
of the user-oriented innovation design and management (UOIDM) model.
The anticipated results of the three years sub-project are: (1) build up the elder
daily task process, object-oriented of the home digital health service; (2) build up the
lifestyle EUIPP model; (3) through the process of NPD to validate the lifestyle EUIPP
model and to apply the interdisciplinary collaboration UOIDM models. The potential
contribution of this sub-project are: (1) through elder demand study building lifestyle
EUIPP to improve the elders’ satisfaction and acceptance for digital technology; (2)
using digital technology advantage embedded lifestyle EUIPP and UOIDM application
to create the innovalue of health service; (3) through lifestyle EUIPP for the participator
to learn the innovation thinking and knowledge increasing the interdisciplinary
collaboration among innovation health service NPD process.
