Abstract
The objectives of the project entitled “Design and Implementation of Humane killer for killing Livestock Applications”are to comply with our national animal welfare policies to research on humane killing system of livestock, to develop new products for power processing applications, to establish and help promote the humane killer demonstration system of economic animal, and to incubate and educate the mechatronic applications oriented engineers and researchers. The project will last for two years, and the aforementioned tasks will be distributed and finished between these two years. In the first year, we will focus on designing and implementing the humane killer of small-scale livestock infested diseases in which the one includes two systems of battery and utility line sources. In the second year, we will devote to develop the humane killer system for large-scale livestock infected diseases. Moreover, we will establish a technical platform for further research and conduct system commercialization.
In this research project, the designed systems are highly innovative and feasible. They are relatively competitive because the killer systems adopt power processing technology and are operated at high frequency to reduce volume and increase conversion efficiency. Additionally, they facilitate to implement module and to maintain them. Our research group has already accumulated the design experience of livestock and poultry stunners and high pulsed voltage generators for many years. Moreover, we also went to the slaughterhouse for verifying the hardware of our design stunner system. In the experimental duration, we exchange the suggestions with the slaughtering operator of the slaughterhouse each other. From these experiences, we have accumulated a lot of the oretical and practical knowledge about the poultry and livestock syunning. Based on above experiences, we strongly believe that we are able to fulfill the goals of this project. In particular, this research is a project of a cross-field research. We hope not only to encourage the cross-field in Taiwan, but to incubate the cross-field researcher by executing this project. It is worth of dedicating in putting long-term effort to them.
