Abstract

The objectives of this project is to design power supply stem for rapid growth of a crop, and vegetable and fruit extraction applications. In the research, ac-dc、dc-dc, and bidirectional dc-dc converters, which combine with snubber, to increase their conversion efficiencies. Moreover, according to the different circuit structures of these converters, they can be separately applied to the rapid growth of the crop, and vegetable and fruit extraction. We work and discussed with the plant and microorganism researchers and experts to implement the proposed project. According to the suggestions of the cooperative partner, the project will last for three years. In the first year, we will focus on mapping out a plan to implement dc 24V/48V power supply system and the reserve and growth boxes of the crop. In the second year, we will focus on developing and implementing dc 200V power supply and pulsed electric-field (PEF) generator. In the third year, we will focus on developing dc 400V power supply and a large power level of PEF generator. In the proposed power system, each power system supplied by battery, ultility line or PV array can supply power each other to increase the reliabitity of power system. The growth box of the crop, designed during the first year of the proposed project, can be used to find the electrical parameters of the electric-field applications for performing researches in the second and third years of the proposed project, Moreover, we will establish a technical platform for further research and conduct system commercialization. In this research project, power supply system and PEF generator will be designed by methods of a small volume and modularization to implement easy maintain them when they are commercialized. Our research group has already accumulated the design, experience of power converter and PEF generator for many years. Therefore, we strongly believe that we are able to fulfill the goals of this project. In particular, this research is a project of a cross-field research. We hope not only to encourage the cross-field research in Taiwan, but to incubate the cross-field researchers by executing this project. It is worth of dedicating in putting long-term effort to them.
