Abstract

Computer has ushered in a new digital economic era. Information technologies and our life are closely related. These technologies improve our life style and activities, such as social activities, business transactions, meeting, medical service, and etc. This project will consider variable health-care services, security and privacy of personal health information to design and implement security mechanisms and prototypes of home-care, remote medical, mobile, active safe, and urgen services. Elaborating on the uses’ requiremnts and characteristics, we will design the user-centered operation model, build smart health-care systems preserving security and privacy, and then study the user acceptance of the heal-care systems. Cryptographic mechanisms developed on this project can be classed into following three categories: 1. Mechanisms for personal health information: This project will design some schemes for this category, including authenticated encryption, (role-based) access control, delegation, monitoring with threshold policy, digital medical information management, and multiple-role-based mobile health information management for above services, etc. 2. Mechanisms for personnel management: This project will design context-ware service with multiple security level, location privacy, dynamic threshold secret sharing, configurable smart authentication and key agreement preserving privacy, delegation for medical persons, multiple-role-based monitoring, smart entrance guard with multiple security level, role-based alarm/broadcast encryption, etc. 3. Mechanisms for device management: This project will propose Device-to-Device (D2D) authentication, user-oriented access control for device, smart entrance guard, dynamic threshold vedio monitoring, authentication and key agreement protocls for medical devices, mobile monitoring, etc. Characteristics of the protosype system established by this project include: protection of healthcare information, user privacy enhancement, real-time monitoring, Web-based platform, variety of alarming systems (i.e., MSN, short messaging, Email, RFID, etc.), active alarming mechanism, smart custom-configurable security mechanisms, device-to-device secure communications, user-centered context-aware service, secure real-time alarming mechanisms, secure video monitoring (ex: use authentication, privilege management, channel encryption, setting of secure areas, active focused services, location-based services, medical monitoring, virtual family, care together platform, role-based user authentication, etc.). Moreover, this project will study the user’s needs and characteristics for the healthcare services, and design the user-centered healthcare model. Finally, we will perform the empirical study for the user acceptance of the healthcare system to find the factors of user acceptance. Based on the results of user acceptance study, we will refine our designed healthcare system and provide them for improving the designs of healthcare products.
