Abstract

Internet of things (IoT) is a rapid developed, diversified, and complex network environments, which involves diversitable objects, networks, computing models, the system platforms. With the rapid development of technologies and innovative applications of global Internet of things, people highly expect that the new technology will change our life style and create new digital society. While this technology has brought convenience and automation, but it may also bring new information security threats and risks. New pattern of computer crime might be poltted in such a connected and integrated environment. IoT digital forensics face many challenges in Internet of things, since the data/digital evidences generated by IoT are very complex, diverse, scattered and come from multiple sources, etc. Hence, few works on discussions how to establish a secure and trust IoT digital forensics environment. This 3-years integrated project intends to design and establish a digital forensics and analytics cloud for internet of things, which is a secure, trust, crime traceable and digital forensics platform. This cloud will provide a comprehensive and secure cloud service for crime detection, digital forensics, and analytics. This project consists four sub-projects as follows: (1) Sub-Project I -- IoT digital forensics blockchain: design and establishment of a trust chain for securing digital evidences for IoT: This sub-project intends to establish a secure blockchain for protection and retrival of IoT digital evidences. Integrity, accuracy, consistency, and compliance of IoT digital evidences will be achieved. (2) Sub-Project II -- Design and implementation of a virsualization platform of IoT digital evidences and a lightweight authentication protocol: This sub-project intends to design and implement a virsualization and query platform for digital investigators to easily find out potential crime pattern. (3) Sub-Project III -- Network forenscis for anonymous crime sources: This sub-project intends to detect crime source only using one network packet without storing packets in routers. The digial investigators will effectively detect anonymous attack source. (4) Sub-Project IV -- Analysis and identification of mobile trail of suspects by wireless location technology: This sub-project intends to detect, analyze, and forensics suspects’ mobile trails. All subsystems or system modules will be integraited into the digital forensics and analytics cloud for internet of things.
