Project Details

Abstract

Xiao is the diagnosis of asthma in western medicine. It occurs both in the children and the adults. The Taiwanese usually select Chinese medicine as way of treatment, however, no specific report discuss the effectiveness of Chinese medicine on this special disease yet. Therefore, present study selects the Xiao patients (both the child and adult) as samples and follows with their treatment effects up to 7 months. When the samples agree to participate into this prospective follow-up study, their responses towards treatment will be regularly collected by questionnaires that include the variables such as quality of life, symptom distress, and subjective perception of the effectiveness of Chinese medicine. From the changed patterns of these variables, the researchers plan to identify the treatment outcomes of Chinese medicine and build up a clinical model to verify the effectiveness of Chinese medicine. Hopefully, this model can be expanded to the treatment of other diagnosis by Chinese medicine.
