Project Details
Abstract
The purpose of this research project is to apply RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)
technology to medical safety and working environmental safety. This is a three-year project.
For the first year we will explore novel applications in the field of medical safety, develop
innovative methods and operations. The second year we will focus on working environment,
to explore novel applications and methods. For the third year we will look for opportunities
of commercializing our research results obtained in the first two years and develop
demonstrative systems with commercial potentials.
During the first year, the principal investigator and his PhD and Master students will
conduct an extensive literature review on journal articles and patent documents. The purpose
is to learn from national and international experts, and build up a knowledge base to explore
future applications. Once we propose the research idea, we will discuss it with our
collaborators at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital about its feasibility. After the feasibility is
confirmed, we will design novel methods and operations. In other words, the first year we
will be focusing on developing innovative methods for medical safety. In the second year we
will focus on applying RFID technology on working environmental safety. The research
protocol will be the same as that in the first year. In the meantime, we will prepare a patent
application based on our first year’s result. The second year project will be carried on during
the third year, and more patent applications may be expected. In the third year, we will
further seek opportunities to commercialize our research findings, and develop
demonstrative systems.
