    Abstract

There are four major topics of pharmacoeconomic and market researches on brand name and generic drugs in this study: first, adopting a second new drug into the medical market; second, brand-switching after the price regulation; third, the variation of generic drug among medical care institutes; forth, drug wastage in expenditures on drugs. To do this, we plan to select one new drug, Thiazolidinediones (TZD), as our study case for our four-year series of study: (1). use GEE linear regression to examine the penetration of a new drug; (2). use GEE logistic regression to examine the brand switching after price regulation; (3). use concentration curve and index, and its decomposition to examine the distribution of the generics drugs among medical care institutes; (4). use decision-analytic modeling to examine the drug expenditures due to drug wastage. Our research findings are expected to provide valuable information on the influence of new drug, price regulation, generic drugs and drug wastage on market behavior and medical expenditure
