Abstract

近數十年來,全球的臨終病人使用加護病房照護日益增加,尤其在亞洲。然而,末期病人於加護病房接受臨終照顧,不僅無效益,更造成幾已無法永續負荷之醫療體系中醫療資源的浪費,更可能無法符合順應病患或其代理決策者對醫療照顧喜好或目標。因此,藉由高品質加護病房臨終照護目標的溝通,以提供符合病患或其代理決策者喜好的臨終照護,已成為提昇加護病房臨終照護品質之首要。考量臺灣醫療費用快速增長,此研究結果將可提供臨床提昇加護病房重症病人臨終照顧品質,避免提供與病患喜好不一致的無效照顧,進而反轉巨額醫療費用支出。
