Project Details

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to survey the characteristics of calculation performed by adults with brain damage. The evaluations will be conducted in the first year to know the ability of general calculation, limb praxis and constructional praxis in the adults with unilateral hemispheric damage. Based on the findings of the first year, the new assessment (or experiment) will be developed for the purpose of substantiating calculation, limb praxis and constructional praxis ability simultaneously. I name this kind of assessment as praxis-calculation test. Therefore, the praxis characteristics can be clarified straightfully during calculation. Some children with developmental dyscalculia and patients with unilateral hemispheric damage will also be tested during this year. This can guide the further revise of the test. In the third year, we will use the praxis-calculation test to evaluate the patients with real limb apraxia and constructional apraxia. Therefore, the relationship of calculation and apraxia can be substantiated clearly.
