Abstract
The project titled: “Preparation and characterization of polyelectrolyte multilayer membranes by the layer-by-layer self-assembly technique for the application on glaucoma” will be studied for three years. The contents of the project are described as follows.
The following three items, (1) Preparation and characterization of polyelectrolyte multilayer membranes by the layer-by-layer self-assembly technique, (2) Kinetic study of protein adsorption on the polyelectrolyte multilayer membranes, and (3) Permeation of drugs through polyelectrolyte multilayer membranes, will be studied in the first year.
The study for the second year will include the following items: (1) Biocompatibility of the polyelectrolyte multilayer membrane, (2) Evaluations of the effects of drugs and kinds of polyelectrolyte multilayer membrane on the fibroblast proliferation with electric cell-substrate impedance sensing, and (3) In vivo biocompatibility: Wound remodulation after filtration surgery.
The study for the third year is based on the results of the first and second years. It will include the following three items: (1) Modification and optimum condition for the preparation of polyelectrolyte multilayer membran, (2) Computational modeling and analysis in fibroblast proliferation, migration, and wound healing will be evaluated with Electric Cell-substrate Impedance Sensing (ECIS), and (3) In vivo biocompatibility:
Wound remodulation after filtration surgery.
