Abstract

Based on my researches these years, I will proceed to explore the teaching representations of some physics conceptions in physics curriculum materials from two correlated aspects, teaching and learning. Through making further progress on the diagnosis of students’ misconceptions ,the interviews about teachers’ instructional strategies and the study on the teaching representations in textbooks, the focus of this study is placed on (1) the arrow representation of free-body diagram in statics and dynamics; (2) the history representations in textbooks, for example, the story about the experiment at the Leaning Tower of Pisa; (3) the ray representations in optics, for example, the ray diagrams of the Galileo’s telescope and the retina model. The study will approach to figure out better methods about the physics teaching representations to strengthen the teaching professional development, enhancing the quality of student learning and improve the context of physics textbooks.
