Abstract
An assessment validly accommodated or reasonably modified for the students with disabilities can fairly assess the students’ learning achievement. Currently, in Taiwan, assessment accommodation and modification mostly have been studied for the students in elementary and high schools, but few for the students in colleges. The resources and conditions to implement assessment accommodation and modification in college are very different from those in elementary and high school. How to effectively conduct a meaningful assessment for the college students with disabilities? The purpose of this research is to develop a valid and reasonable assessment system for the college students with disabilities. This research will take three years. In the first two years, the research is, per surveys with the college students with disabilities (in the first year) and with their teachers (in the second year), to understand the assessment accommodation and modification currently held in the colleges, and to explore the difficulties, needs, policies and strategies of the college assessment system for the students with disabilities. In the third year, the research will interview and conduct Delphi surveys on the course teachers and resource classroom teachers, and per the result of the surveys to develop Assessment Guideline for College Students with Disabilities for the relevant people to refer. The research will promote the awareness of the issues of college students with disabilities’ assessment and establish a model of valid and reasonable assessment for the college students with disabilities.
