Abstract
Professionalism refers to the appropriate attitudes and behaviors to be as a professional.Not only
professional skills, but also professionalism is important in a patient-centered health care. Service learning
has become one of the learning strategies for medical professionalism. The objectives of this study are: 1. to
develop a service learning activity for physical therapy students in planning and implementation of summer
camp for children with cerebral palsy as the way of professionalism development; 2 to set up a network
platform for learning proforlio and reflection of service learning; 3. To establish curriculum for essential
compentency necessary for service learning activities; 4. to determine the qualitative assessment and
evaluation indicators of reliability and validity of professionalism in physical therapy; 5. to develop a
service-learning manual. The freshman and sophomore of Physical Therapy Department will be recruited as
volunteer to develop a service learning activity for physical therapy students in planning and
implementation of summer camp for children with cerebral palsy as the way of professionalism
development and take the service learning as the subject of topic study. The lecturers and clinical physical
therapists will participate as instructors to give lecturers relavent to the cares for the children with cerebral
palsy as well as the interview and reflection. the Professionalism of Physical Therapy Core Values of
self-assessment (PPTCVSA) is used before and after activity and both narrative and reflection are used as
well. Statistical analysis will be performed using qualitative assessment and quantification of the impact of
physical therapy before and after activity by PPTCVSA using paired t-test. Contribution Expected will be :
the establishment of innovative teaching model of professionalism with the service learning in physical
therapy; the research development of professionalism of physical therapy; the establishment of resources for
physical therapy professionalism.
