Abstract
The project will emphasize on the application research of Photonic Band gap on the phased array antenna. For instance, using circular, rectangular and dumbbell shaped band gap with modulated array will construct defected ground plane of the planar waveguide and result in slow wave. It will selectively affect the transmission property and show the selective band rejection and transmission. After selected numbers of PBG under PC board was done, we can unify the selected pass band so as to meet our initial design. Filling Factor and Chebyshev Distribution Chirp will then be added for uniform and non-uniform modulation of the arrays. Sequential phase shift of microwave power through feed lines will be resulted. Power splitted 4 feed lines will be given for the design. PBG element numbers of 0,6,12 and 18 will be adopted for different slow wave structure. 5.8 GHz phased array with totally 450 phase shift will be expected. Circular, rectangular and dumbbell types of PBGs will be tested and evaluated. Filling factor can be adjusted between 0.1 to 0. 7. The results will be checked and optimized by using the software package IE-3D and HFSS. Fabrication will be done through photo mask, photo resist and optical lithography techniques. Network Analyzer and Spectrum Analyzer will assist the antenna radiation pattern andpower measurement. Phase shift of radiation pattern will also be shown.
