Abstract

Taiwan is a small and densely populated country, so every morning and evening, weekends, national holidays when the main roads and important tourist spots along the road are showing a serious congestion. These conditions make people spend a lot of time on traffic congestion among the cars. It is not only a waste of time, but also let a vacation to relax the mind be completely destroyed. GPS navigation systems are already an indispensable tool for everyone. However the traditional navigation systems use RDS-TMC to avoid bad traffic condition. It is not readily grasp the comprehensiveness of the dynamic path planning for traffic. When congestion occurs suddenly, the system cannot response immediately, even because they are planning to use the same method to generate the same route path. It will guide all the cars to the same road and make it congest. This research project is the 2nd sub-project of “The Design of Intelligent Route Planning and Parking Space Guidance Systems”. Through the speed information from each vehicle to form a sensor network we can construct a real-time traffic information model. In this research project, we proposed a method to store the traffic condition information and the search strategy for the information. And we will design a hybrid route planning algorithm with a random function to guide the car into different roads with similar time or distance cost. This research project is a three-year study. 1) We will build the traffic condition model from collecting the data of each vehicle. And use data visualization technique to display the traffic condition. 2) We will design the storage format of traffic information. We will also design the search strategy of dynamic traffic conditions according to peer 2 peer environment. 3) We will design a hybrid route planning algorithm to combine the research results from the first two years and other sub-projects.
