Abstract

Aging of population currently is a serious problem in most of developed countries the world. For this issue, the platform of Industry-Academy Technology Cooperation for health care device is established based on core strategy of the national policy for elderly health. The first part of the project aims to create the platform for nurturing the foundational ability of the institutional staffs at the research of its applicability, combined with the needs of sectors, in order to promote value-added their products. It makes the researchers using the scientific methods to assist sectors in innovation and improvement of the related technology as partnership for achieving a win-win goal by academic publication on elderly health. The Cooperation platform will service the sectors on research of the following categories including 1) motor function assessment and treatment; 2) physical signal and image processing technology; 3) elderly-related care for development of production techniques. First, the service of the platform will be provided throughout the web station of the Cooperation platform and mutual visits. Second, academic research needs in conjunction with the sectors’ demand for the product. Among the physical therapies, electrical stimulations have the most physiological and clinical advantages on chronic low back pain. Low back pain is the pain with high rate of prevalence and recurrence in general population with high economic impact. Therefore, the second part of this project aims to explore the effect of the electrical stimulations for the treatment of chronic low back pain. The project is able to train integrated business and industry personnel, to promote the development of new products and technologies, and to promote academia-industry cooperation. Its derivative benefits will encourage industry members to increase employees and the industry value. By this project the organization hopes to improve elderly health care by cooperating academia and related industries for high quality of elderly life with reduction of dependence living on medical care and consumption of welfare resources.
