Project Details

Abstract

Recently, graphene and graphene nanoribbons are investigated intensely due to their unique physical properties and the great flexibility in the device design. The composite of graphene and graphene nanoribbon can open another possibility for further applications. In this three years project, I propose to investigate the physical properties of this composite material made by graphene and graphene nanoribbon via a first-principles calculation based on the density functional theory. The structure properties and electronic structure of this composite material will be investigated in the first year. The effect of external field on this composite material will be performed in the second year. The effect of deformation will be explored in the third year
