Project Details

Abstract

The goal of this research is to establish a cognitive ability training and assessment system for the elders. We use a series of cognitive games to evaluate the mental degradation of the elderly more early. This proposal will provide three phases including: (1) To design interactive multimedia devices: the main task is to develop a highly scalable hardware. This device not only includes three-dimensional sensing mechanism but also the remote software update mechanism. We can create a lot of interactive multimedia game base on this device. (2) To establish multimedia games software architecture: we try to design a game editor that makes the medical team or doctor design their games more easily. (3) To establish quantitative indicators for dementia: we will install our system into care facility to do a clinical trial. That helps us understand the relationship between game and cognitive function. We will proceed with analyzing of reliability and validity of the biomarker system, and evaluating the performance for the entire system.
