Abstract
The goal of this study is to develop a smart cloth to provide modularized / functional signals
(includes cardiac function and activity function) monitoring for Health promotion, healthy aging
assessment and health abnormality alert through conductive fiber matrix and button-like sensor/path
nodes. There are four key technologies including Intelligent Body Sensor Technologies, Wireless
Communication Technologies, Conductive fiber Technologies and Cloud Information Technologies.
The research priorities of our team include three parts: (1) To develop the Smart Clothes: The main goal
is to develop the smart clothes made from conductive fibers which can monitor the ECG signal and
detect body motion during exercise. Besides, enhancing the flexibility of the signal module makes the
smart clothes more comfortable to wear, in order to increase the duration of wearing the smart clothes.
(2) To design a smart wearable device for physiological measurement: We measure the physiological
signal with a smart wristband device which can monitor the heart rate by a light sensor modules and
record the posture signal by a motion tracking sensor modules. The smart wristband device is composed
of an ultra-low power MCU and a Bluetooth module for wireless connection. The signal sensing unit
combines two physiological signal acquisition modules: A light sensor module to monitor PPG signal
and a motion tracking sensor module to capture the accelerometer signal for step detection and sleep
quality analysis. (3) To build a smart care platform: We will create the ECG quality improvement
algorithm to rebuild and modified the uncompleted ECG signal. Furthermore, the data collected from
the smart cloth will establish the cloud health promotion platform that provides users their personal
exercise prescriptions and the recommendations of exercise intensity.
