Abstract

In previous study, two new endophytes, Rhodotorula taiwanensis sp. nov. and Colletotrichum sp., were isolated from Ginkgo biloba and Youngia japonica, respectively. Of these, the ethanolic extracts of the mycelia and the dichloromethanic extracts of Rhodotorula taiwanensis sp. nov. exhibited inhibitory effect on superoxide anion generation and neutrophile elastase release induced FMLP in neutrophil with the IC50 value of 1.70/3.04 and 1.32/2.82 μg/ml, respectively. Furthermore, the ethanolic extracts of the mycelia and the dichloromethanic extracts of Colletotrichum sp. also showed inhibitory effect on superoxide anion generation and neutrophil elastase release induced FMLP in neutrophil with the IC50 value of 1.24/4.66 and 1.56/3.71 μg/ml, respectively. Accordingly, the aims of this project are not only an attempt to isolate the bioactive compounds from these extracts by resorting to bioactivity directed fractionation, but also to synthesis, modify, propose the structure-activities relationship (SAR), as well as evaluate in vivo (hemorrhagic shock-induced lung injury) activities of these bioactive components. In addition, the optimization of the fermentation on Colletotrichum sp., and the bioactive evaluations on the genus of Rhodotorula and Colletotrichum were determinate herein.
