Abstract

The main purpose of the curriculum planning is to help students gain a systemic and coherent knowledge. Good curriculum planning and design could help for student’s learning. Industrial design is a comprehensive discipline, students have to learn many different domains of professional knowledge and skills. But, these knowledge and skills seems to be change with rapid development of the social, economic and technology recently. It is important to explore the new curriculum planning strategy and model for training the professional industrial design to meet the demand of the future. The purpose of this study is to explore the objectives and curriculum planning framework of undergraduate industrial design problem. The research divided into two phases. In the first phase, the educational objectives and curriculum will be collected form national and international undergraduate industrial design program for formulating the curriculum planning framework of undergraduate industrial design program. The second phase will conduct the survey to collect the data of the important of the undergraduate industrial design curriculum planning framework, and the problems that industrial design education faced. The participants will include 30 professional industrial designers from industries, and 30 instructors from the universities. The results can be reference for industrial design curriculum planning and future research.
