Project Details

Abstract

During the last century, functions and style have not been dramatically changed. Most of the developments are focus on improving the material and manufacturing technology for more comfortable riding experience. However, higher living quality and changing lifestyle have urged various add on multimedia functions such as music players and GPS to be applied. However, providing extra mixed information to the rider has complicated the exercise and may cause distraction. Therefore, it is important to the system developers to understand how these functions affect their riding performance. Through observing the users using the multimedia information assistance system, this research is investigating the influence between user’s controllability and perception of environment. It includes: (1) to observe the using behavior of the system; (2) to understand the information perception; (3) to evaluate the extent the distraction influence the riding performance. Finally, possible problems and scenario will be incorporated with the results to structure the system design guidelines for developers.
