Abstract
A method of using miR-196a molecule and miR-196b molecule in oral cancer detection is used to analyze the expression of miR-196a molecule and miR-196b molecule in the biological specimen such as tumor tissue, plasma, serum, saliva or mouthwash water of a potential patient, wherein the miR-196a molecule has a sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1, and the miR-196b molecule has a sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2. If the expression amount of miR-196a molecule or miR-196b molecule is higher than a normal value, it is deduced that the said potential patient has oral cancer. This invention uses the reverse transcription real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) to detect the expression amount in plasma of an oral cancer patient and a healthy subject, finding that the miRNA-196a or miRNA-196b amount is substantially higher (p < 0.0001) in the oral cancer patient than in the healthy subject; in addition, it provides detection sensitivity up to 90% and specificity up to 85%, indicating that the miR-196a molecule and the miR-196b molecule both demonstrate excellent capability for the oral cancer detection.
