Abstract
Provided is a method of using WISP1 concentration in blood as an indicator to screen breast cancer and detect recurrence, which comprises: (A) preparing serum samples from the people under test; (B) detecting WISP1 concentration in the serum samples; and (C) comparing changes in the WISP1 concentration in the serum samples from healthy people and those with breast cancer to define the association between the change in the WISP1 concentration and the risk of developing breast cancer. The average WISP1 concentration in the serum of healthy people is 631.5 pg/ml, and the average WISP1 concentration in the serum of those with breast cancer is 934.5 pg/ml. Therefore, the WISP1 concentration in the serum of the people under test being equal to or higher than 934.5 pg/ml may be used as an indicator for high risk of developing breast cancer and for recurrence detection.
