Abstract
A method of mixing light wave and microwave of a photo transistor is disclosed. A pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (pHEMT) is utilized as a photo transistor in an optical fiber wireless communication system. When an optical signal is transmitted through the optical fiber, the transistor receives the optical signal and transforms a signal carried by the optical signal back into an electric signal. Meanwhile, a local oscillating signal is added in the transistor, and then the local oscillating signal is mixed with the electric signal in the transistor by the nonlinear effect of the device. The signal is up-converted to RF band, followed by processing and amplification with a band pass filter and an amplifier respectively for further transmission. The circuitry can therefore by simplified and the cost of the network can be reduced.
