A method for identifying a neurological disease with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images is disclosed. The invention examines MRI images of a brain of a subject. The method comprises generating a plurality of brain image partitions according to the MRI images. Each brain image partition corresponds to at least one diffusion index and a plurality of diffusion index values of each diffusion index. The method further includes, for each diffusion index, converting the diffusion index values of the diffusion index of the brain image partition according to a statistical transformation associated with the normal distribution; for each diffusion index corresponding to each brain image partition, generating characteristic parameters according to the diffusion index values of the diffusion index; and classifying all the characteristic parameters, using a classifier corresponding to the neurological disease, as one of a plurality of predetermined categories related to the neurological disease.
