Abstract
A novel algorithm, named fast cellular search (FCS), to decrease the number of the unnecessary checking points used in the CS (cellular search) algorithm is presented. Basically, the proposed algorithm determines the direction of the current motionvector from the previous motion vector and reducess the computation for checking the candidate motion vector. In the experiment, we show that the averagee number of searched blocks by using FCS is less than those by using other fast search algorithms. From the experimentall results, it is shown that the same quality of image is obtained, however, the 50% computation is less than the cellular search algorithm. It is clear than the proposed FCS is very efficient in computation reduction while keeping the almost same picture quality.
