Abstract
A method for detecting nucleic acid molecules is provided. The method includes the following steps: providing an oligonucleotide probe and a double strand intercalating dye, wherein the oligonucleotide probe includes an oligonucleotide chain, a fluorescent reporter molecule, and a quencher molecule, the fluorescent reporter molecule is conjugated to the first end of the oligonucleotide chain, and the quencher molecule is conjugated to the second end of the oligonucleotide chain with respect to the first end; binding the oligonucleotide probe to the target nucleic acid to form a partial double stranded structure; intercalating the double strand intercalating dye in the partial double stranded structure so as to excite the fluorescent reporter molecule through the double strand intercalating dye to emit a fluorescence signal; and detecting the target nucleic acid by the fluorescence signal. A kit for detecting nucleic acid molecules is also provided.
