Abstract
The present invention discloses a method for estimating severity of influenza A virus infection in an infected individual, which includes the following steps: detecting a level of at least one metabolite marker in a biological sample obtained from the infected individual, in which the at least one metabolite marker is selected from a group consisting of: taurine, leucine, isoleucine, phosphatidylcholine diacyl c36:4, phosphatidylcholine diacyl c38:4, phosphatidylcholine diacyl c38:6, phosphatidylcholine diacyl c40:6, phosphatidylcholine acyl-alkyl c44:3, carnitine, citrulline, tryptophan, tyrosine, lysophosphatidylcholine acyl c16:0, phosphatidylcholine acyl-alkyl c34:0, and a combination thereof; and comparing a detected level of the at least one metabolite marker with a predetermined standard of the corresponding metabolite marker.
