Abstract

Abstract Animal writing has been emerging as a new field and the mainstream of natural writing in the last decade. However, as most studies tend to focus on modern writing, more exploration in classical literature is needed. As a result, this study aims to investigate animal writing in classical literature through examining the Taiwan Fu, focusing on birds in the text. Fu is a typical form of Chinese classical literature, and it can help us to understand the nature. As seen in Taiwan Fu written by Wang Bi Chang, the writer discussed local history, geography, and especially the nature. Therefore, this study has consulted many local histories and documents to identify the connection of natural writing between classical literature and modern literature, which is worthy of in-depth exploration.
