Abstract

An electrochemical sensing electrode includes a conductor and a sensing membrane covering the conductor, wherein the sensing membrane contains polybenzimidazole. The invention also provides a method for detecting hydrogen peroxide concentration in a subject solution. The method includes placing the subject solution and organic acid in an electrochemical sensor containing the sensing electrode; oxidizing partial nitrogen atoms of polybenzimidazole on the sensing; providing a fixed potential to the sensor to allow reduction of the oxidized polybenzimidazole; and measuring the required current value for use in calculating hydrogen peroxide concentration in the subject solution based on the standard plot of current vs. hydrogen peroxide concentration. Through the use of the electrochemical sensor containing the sensing electrode, this invention can detect hydrogen peroxide without being affected by interference substances and oxidizing agent, thereby possessing specificity and good sensitivity.
