Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for monitoring head-neck postures, which monitors angles of the head-neck to avoid undesired postures. The method utilizes a front-view camera lens that is commonly built on devices such as a vehicle system, a computer screen, or a mobile phone to capture characteristic information of a human body to determine changes in the head-neck posture of an user while using these devices. Human facial information and torso information are used to determine the proportion of features (such as: eye orbid, nose, chin, clavicle, and shoulder peaks) relative to images of various preset head-neck postures, in conjunction with the information of a three-axis motion sensor on a mobile device, and changes in the angle of the head-neck in the air can be estimated. This method can be applied to detect whether a user maintains undesired head-neck postures for a long period of time, and if positive, a warning message is sent to remind the user, this being of help for improving clinical head-neck problems caused by postures.
