A diet management system includes a picture capture device, a diet database, and a diet record database. The picture capture device retrieves multiple food pictures and characteristics of these pictures. These characteristics include the color distribution and pixel composition of the pictures. The diet record database is connected to the picture capture device through wireless or wired network, so that users can upload and store pictures, the features of these pictures, and corresponding food information as they go. This invention further discloses a food picture search and sorting method. With the aforementioned structure and method, this invention provides fast search to food information so that consumers can safely purchase food and effectively manage dietary habits.
