Abstract

In this paper, a 1-D compact neural network equalizer which implements the maximum-likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) is presented. This equalizer uses the novel optimization technique, hardware annealing, which is a deterministic method, to achieve the optimal solution in a short period of time. Performance in equalizing the received signal has been greatly improved.
