Abstract

3D X-ray cone beam tomography for possible NDT application is illustrated via the Feldkamp convolution backprojection reconstruction algorithm. Gauss and Ham filter functions are implemented in order to alleviate artifacts (streaks and ringing). In addition, the effect of cone vertex position error on image reconstruction is investigated. Finally, film based X-ray projection radiographs were scanned into the computer to reconstruct the 3D images and verify the performance of the software program.
