Abstract

This paper proposes the digital design of a fast power data detector with harmonics rejection ability. The detector can measure the complete power data, including effective values of current and voltage, powers, and power factor simultaneously with quick response time. In order to filter out the undesired dc and harmonic components, a properly tuned discrete Fourier filter is employed without scarifying the response time of detection. For function verification, the built-in power detection block in the SimPowerSystems of the MATLAB/Simulink program is used for comparisons. The comparison results verify the effectiveness of the detector.
