Abstract

In this paper, we developed a new system to determine the direction of arrival (DOA) of signal and digital Beamforming (DBF). Instead of the conventional method of using IF signals combiners to perform DOA algorithms and phase shifters to perform Beamforming. This method relies on very complicated RF design which caused the system to be expensive. The aim of this paper looks into the usage of general purpose digital signal processor (DSP) and common receivers to perform both the DOA estimation as well as the DBF algorithms. This is especially useful in in enhancing the performance of communication systems which has demodulated in-phase and quadrature signals.
