Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to develop a shop floor quality information system (QIS). The system development, which will be illustrated from an example of a rack-power production line, contains two steps: 1) using IDEF0 to construct a system's model, 2) applying this model for the further software screen scenario design. Due to the graphical and structural characteristics of the IDEF0 tool, it will help to deploy QIS functions and to identify the information flow among functional modules. In designing the screen scenario, a conversion from the obtained IDEF0 model to the basic screen for shop floor operators and management people is discussed in sequence. For understanding the argument, VB software tool is selected to display one possible screen design.
