Abstract

The flow design of the air chamber is a key factor so to achieve even air distribution for the air outlets under the audience seating. The general applications of this type of air-conditioning systems are such as theatres or performance centers. The design of the air flow distribution in the air chamber under the seating has a large impact on the displacement cooling. This study has found that a stagnant layer can be indentified by air velocity of 0.15m/s. This study developed a simple method to verify whether an air stagnant layer exists by using equal-velocity contours that appear in both air inlet and air outlet zones. It has been shown that the existence of an air stagnant layer will ensure air outlet uniformity.
