Abstract

A Web-based knowledge management system (KMS) which addresses the pressing needs in the injection molding industry for managing massive quantities of plastics-related information and enabling collaboration among different engineering teams was made. By providing a Web-based environment and intuitive framework, this KMS increases the flow of ideas, reduces redundant tasks, shortens the time-to-solution, and ensures that individual expertise was preserved and published for group access. It serves as a workgroup portal for plastics engineering concerns, complements a corporate intranet, and coexists with other workgroup-specific portals.
