Abstract

In the past, the emphasis of many products was on functionality, as people were primarily concerned with whether items could meet their daily needs, thus emphasizing rationality and functionalism has always influenced modern industrial design. With the development of society, people’s increasing emphasis on product aesthetics and emotions, by increasing the pleasure generated by the appearance of the product, the product can more easily attract consumers, and therefore the pleasure of the product has become an important design consideration. This study explores the relationship between three product appearance factors: form, color, and function, and pleasure and preference through literature review and questionnaire survey. Data was obtained from 72 untested participants, and the results indicate that product color is an important attribute that affects pleasure, and product preference is significantly correlated with pleasure.
