Abstract

A novel pulse generator of inverse Gaussian monocycle pulse with picosecond duration and L/S band responses is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the pulse generator utilizes the step recovery diode (SRD, Schottky diode) and RC differentiator to construct the clamping circuit. Meanwhile, the short-terminated stub is used to establish the matching network as well as to decide the inverse shape and duration of pulse. For UWB applications, an ultra-short inverse Gaussian monocycle pulse with symmetry 100%, duration 600ps and related ring level below 6% have been obtained. And, the frequency responses exhibit the characteristic of 141.7% fractional BW at L/S-band spectrum.
