Abstract

Environmental sustainability has been a popular topic across the globe. So far, teachers in school are limited by course time constraints, lack of knowledge, fragmented course content, and inadequate supporting resources, all of which are obstacles in implementing environmental education courses. Relevant research has shown that excessive dependence on environmental education-related knowledge provided in school yields unsatisfactory effects. the present study indicated that environmental education issues must be incorporated with local issues through actual experience scenarios to enhance the participants’ interest and enthusiasm. Through holding environmental education experience camps, this study invited approximately 100 families (comprising parents and children) to participate in relevant experience activities. Parents collaborated with their children as a team to experience the activities in a venue of nature. After the event ended, we asked the participants to complete questionnaires. A total of 89 responses were collected. Subsequently, this study explored the effects of the topic, venue, and interaction on environmental education learning effectiveness. The results revealed that the topic, venue, and interaction significantly affected environmental education effectiveness with interaction having the greatest influence, followed by the venue and the topic.
