Abstract

Generalised oscillator strengths of atoms for inelastic interactions have been calculated based on a local plasma approximation. Determinations of the effective oscillation frequency associated with the electron density of a given subshell and at a given location in an atom have been made. The electron density distribution obtained from the Hartree-Fock-Slater model was utilised. The local plasma oscillation was evaluated with and without plasma dampings. Calculated results of the generalised oscillator strength for several atoms have been compared with other theoretical data. Fairly reasonable agreement was found.
